The Laboratory

ADDLabs is the Active Documentation and Intelligent Design laboratory of the Computing Institute of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (Fluminense Federal University). Since 1996, it has been researching and developing state-of-the-art technology in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Human-Computer Interaction.

ADDLabs’ projects and studies in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) are developed with the help of investments from major companies, like Petrobras, and partnerships with Brazilian and foreign academic institutions.

In its research, ADDLabs provides opportunities for students, teachers and researchers to promote scientific development, by publishing articles, master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, and to discover new Artificial Intelligence technologies in areas like Data Mining, Neural Networks, Ontology, Expert Systems and Agents and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), including Usability, Interaction Design and Semiotic Engineering.

The laboratory has a fifteen-year history of success, thanks to investments by PETROBRAS, UFF, FINEP (Research and Projects Financing Agency) and CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). ADDLabs is driven by its commitment to its primary mission: diligent pursuit of innovation.
